god i miss u

We were cubs in the jungle, convinced we were lions.
We waltzed in the light of the sun and the shadow of the moon,
The stars shining bright in fits of jealousy.
The rain drummed on the window to the rhythm of our hearts,
The wind chanting to the songs of our souls.
Now i sit here in your living room by your hospital bed
Mother nature howls cries and
Drizzles ring the saddest tunes.
I travelled the world to find myself in the most unexpected of place.
I wasn't concealed in a world wonder
Or coded in a foreign tongue.
I was buried in the treasures I left behind,
Dealt out in exchanges of love.
So as you shrink from the illness I am with you.
Betrayed by the once generous world,
We wrestle the world like lions, convinced we are only cubs.

Mom & Candlelight

Five hundred pictures and two stress attacks later, here are some final pictures for my candlelight attempt. My professor was right, it really does take about 100 tries for every one good image. Well worth it I'd say. I hope these are somewhat evocative, rather than simply nice to look at (if the viewer even thinks so). I think I am in love with darkness and reflection. much thanks to the mother for putting up with me :)

the voyager probe took the furtherst picture ever of earth in 1990. It was a tiny dot in space, about which carl sagan wrote: Consider again that dot. That's here, that's home, that's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

"I wanted to be one of those people who have streaks to maintain, who scorch the ground with their intensity. But for now, at least I knew such people, and they needed me, just like comets need tails."

i go to seek a great perhaps..
